About Us

In 1958, Frank and Dan Carney were students at Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas, USA. Dan, at 25, was working on his master's degree in Business Administration and Frank was a 19-year-old undergraduate thinking of a career in Electrical Engineering. Working evenings and weekends in the family grocery store, they were approached by their landlady with an idea to open a pizza place in her building. Although pizza was relatively unknown in Wichita at the time, the Carney brothers decided to give it a shot.

They borrowed $600 from their mom and named it Pizza Hut because their sign had space for only eight letters.The restaurant quickly grew, thanks to its awesome pizza and service that felt like home. The Carney brothers could promise their customers the finest pizza in town because they knew the farmers who grew the ingredients, and they knew those farmers cared about quality. This commitment has been at the heart of Pizza Hut since day one.

Today, Pizza Hut is the largest pizza chain in the world with more than 16,000 Pizza Hut Restaurants and Delivery Units operating globally, including over 260 stores in Australia.
